The wedding costume

At Hunspach, wedding celebrations lasted several days.

The clothes which a young couple ordered for their wedding were worn later on Sundays and on special occasions. Therefore  they took good care of them in order to be able to wear them as long as possible.

The bride and all the young girls wore crowns made of fresh flowers.

Nowadays wedding dresses are usually white whereas in the XIXth century, wedding dresses used to be black.

Two  bouquets with lots of colourful ribbons were fixed on each sleeve of the bridal dress.

The men also wore a small bouquet in their buttonholes.
